Since January, I have begun a new show at WNSR, an exclusively web-based (at least for now) radio station based out of The New School in New York. I am producing shows on a bi-weekly basis.

I'm also planning on up'ing mixes I've done in the past half-year or so, including the "Channels" mix (which is below), the "Love Me Like This" live mix from WMUA, and the "Greg Hines Mix Tape." Keep an eye out for those, plus more music.
Here is "Channels" + a description I wrote several months ago to some friends whom I wanted to share it with:
CHANNELS
"Last night at about this time, I went over to WNYU to record a demo air-check for my show. Once I got there, I decided I was in the mood to try something else, so I put off the air-check and instead recorded a live mix of music, drawing from songs in my iTunes library and Youtube videos. I picked the songs and videos on the fly, that is, I had a general idea of what I wanted to use going into it but I had not set aside any specific tracks or clips beforehand. The end result is a bit messy but I believe that the themes and ideas I originally wanted to get across are there with clarity. The entire mix is 62 minutes long. I called it "Channels" because after listening to it a couple of times since then, I've realized that in some ways it evokes the experience of watching television, flipping through channels almost endlessly, picking up something from one and something else from another, and always moving on.
I first tried this style of sampling, "live sampling", "dramatic sampling", "collage sampling", whatever you want to call it, last semester while I was training at WMUA at UMass. During an overnight, I played an Eluvium song, mostly ambient orchestral music, and decided to try sampling a Taxi Driver clip over it. I was intrigued by the result, and later tried again, sampling a Rivers Phoenix interview over an already somewhat-sampled-on DJ Shadow track from "Diminishing Returns." This sort of sampling may become popular, may sort of already be popular, I'm not sure, but I'm really interested in it and I'd like to keep trying this and recording it to see how people feel about it and how I feel about it.
I want to share this with you because this unexpectedly became a personal experience for me. I was surprised to find that after I pressed STOP on the CD recorder and finalized the mix, I literally felt as though I had just put a piece of myself into the last hour, into the production of this "thing." It felt sort of like I had put a part of myself into making it, or that the "thing" itself had come from a part of me. The sound felt personal to me and it seemed to, as a whole, have flowed smoothly and even somewhat logically. Even though it was definitely sort of messy at times, it felt real, and I realized that sharing it, especially with friends who I'm separating from at the moment because of distance, would be a special way of re-connecting with them...
Oh, and lastly, I recommend listening to it in full (if possible) and around the same time of day in which I recorded it (between 1045PM and 1215AM) or early on a weekend morning (9AM-11AMish, Saturday morning cartoon time)."
